Blog identity

Having a bit of trouble defining my blog and the tone it carries... I don't want just to whine and use it as an ongoing spreadsheet not only because it'd be heck boring to you guys, but it'd be heck boring to me when I look back at it wondering what I was doing last year.

I thought about a few posts that are not yet published. Advice type ones... advice, me? I've seen so many advices fail it isn't funny, so I won't play the 'do as I say, not as it happened' type game. I have probably heard every single advice regarding how to manage a family budget and have had them fail on me, mainly because of who is in my family. I don't feel I have the right to forward advice to anyone. (I still might)

I don't want to just encourage and be a preacher, though I do that very well. I'm honestly content and happy when people are doing well. It makes ME feel better when others feel better. Friends and newly-mets alike.

Soo. I'll move with the blogosphere's currents for a while and worry about the identity issue later. I'll do some logging of my expenses, and try not to flood with thoughts regarding other people's post. I dont have anything genuine to bring to the table yet, but maybe that will come later.

That said, I am still a bit down regarding my car's sudden yet expected death. Bummer. Have not given the slightest thought about replacing it. But considering the last 3 cars that have been bought at my parent's house have been less than $1500, I think I should come up with at least that much soon.

  1. It takes a while to get an 'identity' for your blog. It took me a while, but I found my grove.

  2. Ditto the above comment --- I was thinking along those lines, except that I don't think I've quite figured out my identity yet!

Go with the flow and write what works for YOU!

  3. You will find your grove don't worry. I am going to link you to my blog of new bloggers to check out if you don't mind

  4. Hey TJ, drop me an email let me know how you find the instructions obscure so that I know how to change them, or explain them better. I looked for the exercise on line but couldn't find a video. I tried to brake it down as best I could but I know things can always be improved.

  5. Write from the heart and share anything and everything you desire. I for one will definitely read it.

Yes it may be the same advice but it will have a different situation and a unique opinion and I can definitely learn from that.

I too was afraid of being Generic Blogger and sometimes I still am but I see growth bit by bit. Sometimes I wonder if I am any good and why I still do it but I just write and read other peoples stuff and enjoy it. Also try not to compare yourself to other bloggers. I'm guilty of this but in the end. I do it because I want to and I love it and the PF blogosphere is full of awesome people.

  6. Thanks gals and guys. I appreciate the comments amd will follow your reccomendations.

Rafiki- What's PF? I've seen that a lot and still am not sure.

  7. Thanks, that surely explains it!

  8. I haven't had the chance to go and read your blog from the beginning...but the identity thing does take some time.

I think my blog is alot of whining on my part. But one thing people have told me about my blog....I am totally honest. When I mess up...I admit it. When things go well...I share that too. Alot of bloggers like to only blog how great they are doing. Well, that isn't me.

My only advice is this....write what you would want to read.

    Welcome to the club.
