Yet another weather post

Hey, if we all post at the same time about holidays, events and what not, why not about weather? And yes, it is cold in Maryland. Colder it's been since like the 90's, or so said the radio. (I wasn't in the US at the time, so I don't know... I was busy with our 82 degree weather back in the Caribbean, in case anyone is curious!)

But you know what? I am loving it. I love cold weather. I love snow. I seem to also be a very big fan of rain, t-storms, hurricanes and other natural disasters. My friends can tell you that I am the strangest person they've met when it comes to that regard. Who "likes" hurricanes? They're destructive and painful to people. They can be devastating, especially when the eye is bigger than your whole island, and you get them on their raw force. But we got so many hurricanes a year back home, that one just gets used to them. Bad stuff happens regardless, so you may as well enjoy the good when it happens. And there's nothing more fun in my opinion than bathing in the rain in the eye of a hurricane. It's eerie, but really cool. Confuses the birds big time too!

Ahem. Anyway, yeah. It's 7 degrees here in Maryland, with the wind chill making it closer to -22 degrees. And yes, I am enjoying it thus far. I am at work, and no, I wouldn't be outside longer than necessary without a coat and gloves. But I think it's quite lovely. I feel for those that have to work outside in such a weather and wish they didn't have to. Stay at home if you can, if only for safety's sake (yours and others). But regardless, don't look at it as a negative. It only comes a few times a year, so you may as well enjoy it as you would the perfectly cool summer day.

  1. I'm enjoying my little two day holiday :) It's like a gift when this happens so I don't mind the bad weather either. In fact, in another life I'd like to be a storm chaser. I've watched the Twister movie about 20 times and never get tired of it.

  3. In the spring and summer, we open the garage doors and watch thunderstorms from the garage. We've even had friends over to watch storms. If there isn't lightning, we let the kids run around in the rain. Yes, we're a little weird. I'm totally with you on storms but I've never experienced a hurricane.

    1. We used to have an open... not sure what you'd call it, but it was like a terrace, with bars, but otherwise fully open, and it was awesome to watch storms while sitting or playing with the rain.

  4. You are a nut!
And I say that in the most loving way possible. lolz

I grew up with hurricanes too in the southern US....not as many as you got growing up, but I find them cool too. Of course, I didn't rush to the shoreline like some of the idiots where I lived do because I also enjoy remaining among the living. hehehehe
I LOVE thunderstorms/rainstorms and have been known to wander outside during the ones without lightning going on.
Tornadoes on the other hand, nope....not going out of my way for one of those.

    1. Oh, I totally know I'm a nut when it comes to stuff like that. Tornadoes, though I haven't experienced them yet, seem a lot more scary than most other natural disasters.

  5. I HATE cold weather. It was negative 30 or negative 35 yesterday (with windchill) and I was just not having it! :)

    1. I do feel bad for places that are not equipped to handle this kind of weather. Florida was having a 27 degree weather, and I know their houses just aren't built to maintain much heat in. Same goes for TX.

  8. I love watching any kind of rainstorm...not a fan of ice, snow or wind. Sigh but I live on the east coast so -11 it is for today :/
