And this is why you check...

This may justify my obsessive checking. I've been so busy the past 2 weeks that I've only given half an eye's worth of attention to checking my cards and expenses going through them. This is what I just found on my Chase card. A ToysRUs/BabiesRUs charge for $787.81.

Needless to say, I did NOT do such a huge purchase. I called and they cancelled the transaction plus cancelled the card and issued me a new one.

Guess when it comes to that, one can't ever let their guard down... wonder what from ToysRUs could possibly be worth that much.

  1. Glad you caught it. Any idea how they got your numbers?

    1. No idea. At Chase, they just said they themselves don't know how it happens. I never really use this card besides Amazon and Verizon, and it rarely leaves my wallet. I had it with me during the call.

  3. Dang....you must REALLY love your nephews to spend that on them! lolz

This made me run right over to my M/C account and check in on things there.
Luckily no account hijacks were detected like the Summer of 2012's adventure with the scumbag who went on an iTunes spree(twice!)and then had a sex toy mailed to us before I shut him down.

    2. Bahaha. Yikes indeed. To be honest, I had a shadow of a doubt whether perhaps my mother used my card number by mistake... but I don't think even she could charge that much.

  5. I check mine daily just in case, think about a place or business where you used your card where something didn't feel right, more than likely it was a waiter at restaurant etc, all they need is a picture of front and back...

    1. Nope, I always handled this particular card. Either shopping online or at the gas pump and not going to the inside of the gas station. I did also use it at Disney Store, but I doubt that'd have flimsy security...

  6. I'm so happy I can check mine online now - I've had 2 charges that weren't mine over the past few years. Even though it's all computerized mistakes are made. And yours was a huge amount!!

    1. I'd go nuts if I didnt have the ability to check mine on demand! I'm very OCD when it comes to these accounts.
