Everybody's working for the weekend

And that includes me. 5pm on Friday just can't come fast enough. Though I have to work on Saturday, I have big plans that do not just include doing laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping for my parents' house. My mother is somewhere out of the states, so it's just me, one of my younger siblings and my dad at the house. Which means I can actually hang out. Who would've thought?!

I'm planning to do some burgers and try the recipe that M Ripples posted for Chicken and dumplings. Attempt #2 at crockpots, hope I don't mess this one up as well!

Slowly but surely, I am adjusting to the new schedule of mostly studying, mostly exercising during my time off. It leaves very little time for anything else besides food and entertaining the 4yo "roommate". Which is great! Who needs to spend money when you are busy enough to forget you were supposed to eat 4 hours ago? Oh, yeah. Me. Especially with going back and forth to my dad's and spending money for that household. (Don't worry, it's all in the budget.)

Today I'll try to take a snapshot of my spending for August. It will look unusually high because of the dentist appointment, auto insurance and I overpaid my student loan by $140. Yeah, it will look awfully high, that's for sure! But oh well. Nothing's overdue, nothing was left unpaid or underpaid. It's all good.

Anyone else has big plans for the weekend?

  1. Enjoy your weekend with the family! We don't have any major plans. We'll probably grill some hot dogs and zucchinis from our garden but, mostly, it will be pretty quiet.

  2. Become one with the crock pot. Name it and talk nicely to it and before you know it you will be treating it like your go to person!

    1. I do need to name it. After I find it. And clean it. Ha. I do wish I knew how to cook well with them... they match my style to a T for large meals and lots of freezable leftovers with little handling.

  3. Just trying to stay cool here and come Monday, keep out of the workmen's way as the home repairs start. Oh joy.....lol

I don't even want to THINK about August's spending! We'll be lucky if we have any $ leftover when all is paid....and that's not counting the vacation spending which is coming out of savings.

    1. Your rebelliousness reminds me of my Saturday nights and long weekends. Looking at laundry, cleaning, dishes... more cleaning and some cooking!

  7. Now why didn't we have a cooking lesson when you were here?
I know you'll pull off crockpot attempt #2 successfully.
When you get that one down remind me to share with you our Pear/apple crumble in a crockpot recipe. It's fabulous!

    1. I love apple crumb dessert with ice cream... yum. Oh, don't tempt me! I hope it goes well too, otherwise we may not be eating for one of the days.

  8. Hope the chicken and dumplings turn out good. I forgot to mention in the recipe that before serving, use 2 forks to pull apart the chicken into smaller pieces.

We aren't doing much this weekend. Going to an end of Summer pool party so hopefully the weather is nice.
