But I really don't want to change!

Recently at work we got new computers. Which is fantastic, since mine kept freezing up, crashing and other fun stuff. I mean, if my productivity could be measured (which would be as easy as counting grains of sand near the shore at a beach), it had considerably gone down due to computer issues. I'm talking in the 30-40% productivity decrease. It was NO fun waiting 4-5min for a two-page document to print, or taking 20min doing a form that used to take me 5min. So I am truly grateful for the upgrade.

Our old computers had Windows XP. This is the one I like the most and I was most used to. Yet it didn't dawn upon me until the brand new shiny computers arrived, that we would have to upgrade to Windows 7. Ouch.

I am loving Windows 7/Office 10 so far. It is fantastic! It is SO much better than Windows Vista, which I have on my laptop, and so far, seems pretty stable like Win XP. However... it is completely different! We got the new computers in on Wednesday. Still today at 5pm, I couldn't find how to do some tasks. Out of the 8 business hours, I'd say at least 2-3 have been spent trying to figure stuff around. And I am very technologically inclined! Needless to say we got thrown into this without any warning or training, but I figure they think that because we're young(er), this stuff should run in our veins. But it doesn't! Me and my office partner (we're both the same age) are slowly working our way through the new OS and all the changes that came through it. But it takes time. Any change takes time.

That's been me this past week. Not ready for Monday at all, but not like I can stop it. Have a great rest of your weekend!

  1. Oh, I deeply hate our Windows Vista!

  2. We are in the process of switch from XP to Win7 here and I am struggling to find where certain options are on Word/Excel. I'm sure once I figure it out it will be fine, but it is quite annoying right now

    1. Wow, you must be in my office or something, because that's exactly where we're at... "where's that crop button?", "how do you split the screen in excel?!"

    2. Me too! Well, we actually switched about 3 months ago but I still get stuck every once in awhile. It was devastating. I take pride in my office abilities and I lost about 50% productivity for almost a month.
