Well, lookie here...

Before I head out to work today, I wanted to share something that came up last week...

Remember that time I was lusting over a car I had seen around town? This pretty piece?:

Well, I was looking around at how much I'd need to come up with to replace my car, since Murphy seems to be messing with too many people's vehicles... and lo and behold, I find this:

A beautiful 2007 Hyundai Elantra SE Hatchback with less than 50k miles for the low price of $8000. I so, so wish I was in position to get this. It is a very, very basic model, but has all the add-ons I'd need, safety and comfort wise. It's the only one in 200 miles that came so close to something I'd get.

Oh well! Hopefully I can find something similar in another 2 years. I won't even do the math or consider making it work with my budget. I know exactly how my budget stands, and that's the beauty of it; I now the limits and I am not tempted to bust them. It is actually quite liberating. I know for a fact now it's not the time for it.

But boy, do I wish I was.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

  1. Hmm. If only you hadn't paid your PARENTS' car loan, you might actually be able to buy it! What a pity.

  4. Same pretty colour! But stop looking if now's not the time to buy:) I went looking at houses to retire to 4 years before I retired and look what happened to me!! Paying the expenses for two houses instead of one for 4 years - probably not the wisest move in my life but oh well!

  5. The more you look, the more you will want it. I know its hard but I find that its just best to avoid looking.

  6. That's just about the cutest little car I've ever seen. I like small cars, and I could fall in love with that one.

    1. Isn't it awesome? I love the size. Though I had not considered a 2dr car until now, it is so nice!

  8. I agree with Jane, I think you need to stop looking and torturing yourself for now :) At least for another year until you are closer to be ready to buy. There will be another steal, perfect just for you when the time comes, I'm sure of it.

  9. Very nice and reasonably priced. Used cars seem more expensive these days (in general).

    1. Tell me about it! About a year ago, used cars were about 1-2k more expensive than brand new cars! What was up with that?!

  10. I love how strong you're at prioritizing things - great jobs! It's always nice to remember that cars only depreciate (unless they're not older than 40;-) So in a couple of years you'll buy the same car much cheaper;-)))

    1. Good point! If I were to find this car in a few years when I'm ready to buy, I'm sure I'd still get it. Though I wouldnt want a car too old, because of maintenance issues.

  11. Well, I know you'll have that car soon, or maybe, something better! You should make a vision board and place that photo in it, right? It's nice that you set your own financial parameters. This way, you're sure to spend your money wisely, as you save some for the future.
