Have you seen my Student Loan 1?

It was here last week... did you check behind?
Have you seen my Loan1? Because I most certainly cannot find it! When logging in last night to make the payment that will drop me from the $9,000's, it said that the loan had been paid up. Yeah, right. I am sad to report I wasn't even excited (or tricked) for half a second. So looking around, it had actually gotten transferred. Without notice. Right that day (5/10). I have to wonder if I had made a payment on Wednesday, what kind of disaster might've happened.

It's a Federal Loan and they've changed their websites at least 3 times in the past 4 years. But at least they'd give us notice. This time? Not as much. And I can't find any redirection, emails, mail pieces, nothing pertaining this change. Hmph. I am sure THEY would not appreciate me moving and not giving them a forward address...

I have their number and info written down and will call them at some point today. I am working tomorrow, so I'll try to stay busy and keep my spending under control. It is already looking bleak, as I may have to put gas on my dad's car just to get to work. My car (which is the oldest!) at their house is the only one really trouble, check-engine/oil/motor/trunk light free, so one of my younger brothers needed it to take their driving test. They get my full-tank car, I get the really big SUV with less than 1/5 gas left on it. Joy. I know how some parents feel with their teenage kids when they start driving...

Let the weekend begin!

EDIT: Found it. Boo! It's now been transferred to Mohela, but Laura mentioned hers went to EDFinancial.

  1. This happened with my husband's student loan. I did find the website, got enrolled but had to set up a whole new password, etc. Actually though, now that it's done, the new website is a whole lot easier to navigate than the old federal one ever was. Here is the new address for federal loans: https://www.myedaccount.com/

My own student loan, the one that will be with me forever, is through Sallie Mae. It will be with them until the end of time.

    1. That's the website where mine used to be, but they're not there anymore... wish they would disappear instead of just getting lost!

    2. This is weird. Mine was there, but I checked again this morning and now I'm also showing a zero balance! I searched around on the web and it seems like (but of course I'm not sure) there were so many problems with the site that balances are maybe being sent to other financial institutions. I don't know . . . we never had any problems with the new site so don't know what's up. I have no idea where our loan amount went. All I know is that it sure wasn't paid off and someone is going to want their money. I plan to call Direct Loans next week and see if I can find out anything from them.

  2. I really thought that you were going to say that you had paid it off. Sorry about that!
Enjoy your weekend and don't get stuck on the road!

  3. At least you didn't get all excited just to get a gut-punch later. I'm the type who would have fantasized that there was a massive error that can never be fixed and I would never have to pay the bill. :o/

I think big brothers are nice - I'm happy for you that you have such a big family, never mind that they give you plenty of trouble all the time. :o)

    1. That would've been awesome. $9k just vanished into thin air? Lovely! But yeah, not even going there. The gut-punch would've really knocked me off my feet.

  5. Just another reason to be done with the Fed's. Not as in be rid of them. Just not do business with them.

  7. It's me again: I found my loan, although it took me a l-o-n-g time. It's at Edfinancial.com: https://edfinancial.myloanmanager.com/Login.aspx You'll have to register again, but when I did all our information came up. The correct balance was there, payment amount, due date etc.

It sure would have been nice to have gotten a notice from MyEdAccount that this was going to happen.

  8. Wow, I guess loans are just going in all different directions. Mine got moved to Mohela (http://www.mohela.com). They still don't have the info, but I was able to register. Good thing my loan isnt due the 28th. I feel sorry for people who had a payment due on the 10th!

  10. That happened to Rambo not to long ago. He's waiting for a notice to come in the mail so we shall see. Glad you found yours!

  11. That would piss me off if my things changed without notice, what happens if you have auto deductions set up?

I really couldn't take stuff like that but I'm glad you found yours so fast.
