Is it really February? Thinking of Vacations

Yup, I am sure you have heard that line about a dozen times by now. So let me make it 13! I like prime numbers.

I have, hidden in the dephts of a tab in my iGoogle homepage, two counters. One counts down to the next day off from work (yes, they're that few and far between!) and the other counts for vacations. December was truly an odd month for me, and so was January. Extremely busy and full of unusual tasks. Both months are done and gone, so I can resume to my normal tasks. I glanced over my vacation counter and I see a 68. 68 days before my next already-planned vacation. Last time I saw it, it was on 112. I am panicked a bit. Very little is planned for this vacation. To make matters worse, there is even less planned for a spur-of-the-moment vacation that will take place two weeks prior. I can tell you about vacation #1 (unplanned), and save #2 for later.

Vacation #1 is scheduled to be at some point during the 4th or 5th week of March. That's when my half brother goes on spring break from school, and I want to take him to NY. Since he's never been there and he’s about 2,820mi from home. I'll book us a room in NY or close to it and we will wander for the weekend. Trying to keep this as affordable as possible, so we'll mostly be doing sight seeing and lots of walking.

Me and my half brother have known each other for 9 long years as of 2/1/12. I spammed his phone to remind him that (yeah, he pretty much put up that face of 'what the heck? Who remembers stuff like that?'). Then told me to leave him alone because he has exams tomorrow. Can't blame him, as he's been sick for the past 2 weeks. California people seem rather susceptible to East Coast weather. Another bad thing about him is that he is completely hands off. I have to plan this whole thing by myself, and I am not even the one sightseeing as much.

But that’s what’s going on around my end. I’ll roll out another post about vacation #1 and hopefully indulge myself in sharing info about vacation #2!

  4. I like that your emergency fund is green. Some people just don't understand how important having an emergency fund is. Once the others are paid off this can grow to pay for things you may want.

  5. To me that sounds like the ideal trip - I don't like things to be too planned out. I like to wander, explore and experience whatever pops up. I DON;T like to have an ironclad agenda because I feel I'm missing out on the REAL PLACE, wherever that might be. I hope your half brother appreciates your efforts!

  6. I live a very stressful and busy life, and whenever I take vacations -usually for a weekend- I think a lot of the de-stressing has to do with not being around the internet and thus actually unable to do any work.
