Good bye, our little Star

Ah, who would've thought the post for this weekend would be one so sad. Thanks for the thoughts, prayers and good wishes!

Our beautiful puppy went to dog heaven today at about 3pm, on our way to the pet ER. Didn't even make it half way. I just hope it was as painless as she made it seem; she was strong to the end. We kept on driving towards the ER, unsure what else to do. I can say I've seen my dad teary eyed and very upset before, but I had not seen him cry. Not until this afternoon. It was very hard on all of us.

She's to be cremated ($185, I'm paying for it. Again, who has time to think about money during such circumstances?), and her ashes returned to us. We got a photo of her paw print. The people at the ER kept saying how beautiful of a dog she "is". Indeed, one of the best I'll ever meet. I need to stop crying sometime today, or boy, will I look a mess tomorrow for work...
She never really liked strong storms, especially not hail
For an escaped 2mo old mutt who fatefully hid under our house during Halloween night scaring a household full of children who were watching a horror movie, she was the best thing that ever happened to us. We enjoyed having her watch over us for 10 years. Rest in peace and calm, my dear!

  2. I am sooo soooo sorry, Tanner. This is awful, and the second friend who has lost a pet in the past week. I know how hard this is, I've done it twice in 25 years. Star is a cutie, and will remain in your memories forever. At least now she's out of pain, and romping in doggie heaven, chasing balls, scaring children, and knowing that she'll never be forgotten.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tanner, and your family.

    Peace <3

  12. So very sorry - we feel your pain & sadness. They are true members of our families and we love them as much (if not MORE!) than some of our blood relatives! Remember the fun times, and know you gave your Star a wonderful life. Peace.

  13. I don't even know what to type except to let you know that I'm sure your dog was happy for the years you gave to her too. Our dog is 10, and I will be an absolute mess when something happens to him. You were a wonderful dog parent and did the best you possibly could.
