Cooler weather and exercising

As much as I hate to admit it, I am back to my pre-weight loss weight. Ouch!

I completely stopped exercising when the whole moving started, back in mid June. I haven't picked it up since. I also have been eating a lot of garbage (or not eating at all) with complete disregard to what my diet used to be. Couple that with stress... and it doesn't look pretty.

"Finding" time or type of exercise has been nothing but a long excuse and procrastination. A thing about being on your own/single is that all motivation falls on you. And boy, can I come up with excuses of all sorts. I wont be exercising that much that it will distract me from my studying, but it is a compelling argument. I just need to be more efficient with my time. So, starting Monday, I'm going to dig through and find the exercise DVDs (Slim in 6) and get to it.

I also have this idea of getting back to running. I used to be a runner in college, and always enjoyed it. I don't like running in place and much prefer doing so outside, but I've honestly not done so once since graduating. Shame on me, I know.

But before I start making more grandiose plans and procrastinate my way to September, I'll start small with the videos, which are kind enough to begin with just a 30min workout per day, moving to a 1:30hr workout after a few weeks. I'll definitely make it a goal to run at least once in September.

Do you have a favorite exercise/routine? Morning or evening workout?

  1. I hope motivation finds both of us! I'm still procrastinating with exercising. I'm just now getting the hang of eating healthy. Baby steps, right?

I typically feel like sleeping after working out so in the late afternoon hours works best for me but I also like taking advantage of the cool mornings. I've never ran a whole mile in my life and I'm thinking about trying the couch to 5k thing.

    1. Glad I'm not the only one who likes to exercise late in the evening. When I was exercising, I was doing so between 8-9, and when the workouts became longer, I moved it to 7-9. A quick shower, and I as out like a light!

  2. I like to use Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies. Honestly, I have yet to finish the whole thing as it wears me out. But, I will keep trying.

  3. I have a stationary bike I ride a few times a week. Or try to atleast. If I have a good book, I can sit there and pedal away for an hour or two in the evening.

    1. I started reading about exercise again, and got so jealous I don't have one of those. If I could just pedal with a video game or a book, I would sit there for hours. But aerobics just doesn't loan itself very much to reading or video gaming.

  4. I used to be in an exercise routine where I worked out about 4 times a week, but when I got pregnant I fell out of it somewhat. Now my husband and I are trying to make it a habit to walk every day.

  5. I walk a few times with my neighbor. We try to cover 4-5 miles every time. It's not much but it's a step :)

    1. 4-5 miles is a lot of walking! I think right now, I could barely do half that.

  6. Before I got sick & needed all of the possible sleep I could get, I loved running in the mornings. It definitely took a week or so to get used to it, but then I loved the energy I had after a quick pre=work run!

    1. I hope I can make that work for me. I'd love to get out to run with any degree of frequency.

    1. Hahahaha. You know, you're probably right. I wasn't even used to eating, let along eating all the good foods she fed me!

  8. I loved running in the morning and I still miss it. But then I will start teaching dance 15 hours a week so I am just not going to worry about my weight. It is so frustrating to put weight back on that you have tried so hard to lose.

    1. Life does seem to have a way of getting in the way so often. Hope you can find some time in the future, even if it's just for a walk.

  9. I was very active all of my life until recently, after I had my third child. I just got lazy and kept putting off working out. But then I decided to hire some in home personal training to get me back on track. The additional help was just what I needed to stay focused and motivated to exercise daily.
